However #1: Because it is a coral reef, it has its own charms. It is beautiful and you can walk out among the sea life.
However #2: Walk south about five minutes and you'll find all the sand you could want.
However #3: Mayan Palace is building an artificial reef to trap sand and this could all be moot by the time you get there.
